![]() Later in high school, I got my PlayStation 2 with Final Fantasy 10. I remember when I was in middle school getting so attached to the world-building, story, music, and characters in the games like Final Fantasy 6 or Chrono Trigger. Our tale begins with two people, born on different worlds, each looking to change their fate and create a new future. For 300 years, Rena has ruled over Dahna, pillaging the planet of its resources and stripping people of their dignity and freedom. Stories handed down for generations became truth and masked reality for the people of Dahna. On the planet Dahna, reverence has always been given to Rena, the planet in the sky, as a land of the righteous and divine. For 300 years, Rena has ruled over Challenge the Fate That Binds You. Summary: Challenge the Fate That Binds You.While I'm still interested in what the next Tales game will bring, this is one entry that I can't see myself ever playing again. Yeah, more than most games charge for an expansion with a story and everything. So, if you want to get all those tasty passive buffs, be ready to shell out $30 for all those. 3 of the 18 of each characters' titles (the source of passive buffs and special skills) are locked behind premium costume packs, which do not add anything to the game aside from cosmetics and the titles. So, well written, but not interesting enough to leave an impression. The main characters have as much charm as the main cast of Zestiria, if you remove Edna, Rose, and Zaveid. Sure there are some with slightly different character models, and more plot relevance, but they usually get 2 minutes of screen time and then vanish forever. Many of the 3rd act plot twists were obvious enough that I knew them hours before hand, and the heroes win not by overcoming overwhelming odds, but through THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP!!! ![]() While there was certainly more of a tangible threat to the world than, say, Zestiria, it was never a super interesting threat. Yeah, I'm likely the minority with that opinion. If you took him out all together, the story wouldn't change. +Exploring the world was rewarding enough. TL/DR: Looks and plays good, story and characters are dull, discount Sephiroth is boring.įor background, I've played every mainline Tales game since Symphonia, and beaten nearly all of them as well. Guess I'm one of the people who wishes for a "middle" recommendation button.
